This ambitious £34 million development, now successfully completed, has reimagined the existing facility through a dynamic blend of new build extension and refurbishment. The result is not just a revitalised sports centre but a vibrant hub of athleticism, teamwork, and personal growth elevating the space to meet Sport England standards and providing state-of-the-art resources for both professional and recreational athletes.

The upgraded Jubilee Sports Centre is designed to foster high-level performance and support a diverse sporting community. The redevelopment ensures that the facilities are equipped to host club-standard team sports across five core areas:

Team Sports Arena
A versatile, modern sports hall now accommodates a range of indoor sports including basketball, netball, badminton, five-a-side football, five-a-side hockey, volleyball, table tennis, and fencing. This multi-functional space offers flexibility for training sessions, competitive matches, and community events, reinforcing the University’s role as a leader in student sport.

Cutting-Edge Fitness Facilities
A brand-new fitness zone offers state-of-the-art training equipment tailored for athletes from various disciplines, supporting strength and conditioning programs across multiple sports.

Specialist Trampolining Facilities
Dedicated trampolining facilities provide space for professional training and recreational use, offering students and athletes a unique and challenging fitness experience.

Modern Changing Rooms & Showers
Newly designed, high-spec changing rooms and shower facilities enhance comfort and accessibility, supporting the diverse needs of all users.

Catering and Social Spaces
The introduction of contemporary catering facilities ensures athletes and spectators can refuel and relax in style, fostering a sense of community and connection beyond the sports arena.

A Strategic Delivery Through SCAPE Framework

The project was delivered under a Design & Build contract through the SCAPE framework, ensuring a streamlined, collaborative, and efficient procurement process. Cliftons Projects played a pivotal role in overseeing every phase, from design development to construction and handover, ensuring that the University’s vision was realised to the highest standard.
